Exclamation USB flash drive partition HELP

    hi,

i have a 1gb usb flash drive which was giving me problems so i decided to format it and make it into 2 partitions. BUT it changed itself to a 250mb drive with the rest of the drive missing.

How can i get the rest of the 700mb back?????????

    THANKS

i decided to use the program that came with it but it was rubbish! It was that which changed my flash drive into a 250mb. I've tried using paragon partition manager but it doesn't do the trick.

Do you know any manual way to do it????? eg via DOS??

i moved the slider to the middle to split the 1gb into half but it went wrong.

I know that when you partition a drive there is an active partition and a non active partition. i was wondering if the other half could be inactive????

thanks for that Ahcoraj BUT it didnt do the job, it just formats the current amount but does not allow you to recover the lost or hidden partition

    Do you know anything else???

    Thanks

Let's start over. What's the machine and operating system you have the flash drive plugged into?

It does help to know what OS your running. Try http://www.ranish.com/part/ and see how that works for you.

Edit: Okay that won't work. I just tried it. Let me dig around a little more..

Here you go. Learned something myself too!

    from http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308424
    Using Disk Management

To start Disk Management: 1.Log on as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group.2.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.3.Click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management. In the console tree, click Disk Management.

NOTE: You can also click Start, point to Run, type diskmgmt.msc, and then click OK.

Edit: Dang! Doesn't work on removable drives. Although yours already has partitions it may delete them, but you can't create them. At least I couldn't. Other than Linux apps I can't find much of anything...sorry!

A Google search should give you a number of options. I'm rather limited in my knowledge of the Linux realm.... You might give Partition Magic a try :

Actually Shamus you are correct. Run the computer management utility. Click on Disk Management. On the right upper half there will be your disk partition. On the right bottom half there will be your disk and the formatted partition will be blue and the unpartitioned space will be shown to the right of that.
