I'd buy a new one.
I'm a patient person but sooner or later I can't justify wasting time on something that's obviously FUBAR. Just not worth it.

The second Partition is not accessible from Windows XP. However Win98SE,Me, DOS and Linux may recognize it.
Do you have a way to try that?

i have linux installed as a second os, but i am a total novice, if you could help by giving step by step instructions it would be really helpful. I can get hold of a win98SE also so if you can put that up aswell it would be ideal.

A crazy idea but it works!! I had the same exact problem... my 2GB flash drive was split into 2 1GB partitions, and Windows would only recognize the flash drive as 1GB. Windows Disk Management showed that one of the partitions was inactive, but there was no way to activate it. So I booted from my XP disk and ran setup like I was installing windows... and when it gets to the part where you select the drive, I saw the flash drive there and was able to manipulate the partitions. I deleted all partitions and created 1 2GB partition, then I exited the setup and booted normally. All I had to do was format the drive, and voila...
Ahcoraj, thanks for your crazy idea, I was about to go crazy myself trying to figure this out!!!

Well I'm glad to see it helped someone... Im beginning to think that your problem may be that your drive had 2 memory chips in it an one died po_jo. I'm not even sure if that's possible but hardware failure seems to be the best answer. PM me for an address to send the program to.....
also have you tried this http://www.compuapps.com/Download/sw...swissknife.htm if it doesnt see your 'missing' space, nothing will i fear......

I had the exact same problem as you... Disk Management, Partition Magic, booting to the XP installer wouldn't work to partition my flash drive. I plugged it into my Mac, ran Disk Utility and it partitioned them into two FAT32 partitions.
