Probably something is dying (overheating) - could be bad motherboard, bad memory or even bad PSU...
Chipset is losing one of adress lines (may be because of internal defect). That's why "Boot-block..." message usually appears (besides problems with BIOS chip itself)...

the same thing is happening to my computer. I thought it was a program on my computer going haywire because it says "Bootblock Award Software v1.0" or something like that. It is saying that it is detecting something in my A drive, and wants me to insert the system disk. I have no system disk.
Also, my anti-virus software has deleted 3 viruses while I was on this site in the last 30 seconds. You almost had me there, guys.
my computer specs are as follows:
Compaq Presario S6200CL
AMD Athlon 2800 processor, 2.06 Ghz
512 MB PC 2700 DDR SDRAM
120 GB Ultra DMA hard drive

Welcome to Windrivers Forums, nuclearfeet!
Your PC (Compaq Presario S6200CL) has a "Kamet2" motherboard http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...n&cc=us&os=228
Look for the sticker on the BIOS chip - it should say something like "Kamet" or "Kame*" (*-digit).
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...name=c00063254
Your BIOS may be corrupted or may be something wrong with memory controller. Could be lost contact somewhere...
Try to re-seat everything - memory, cards and so on.
That BIOS upgrade is designed to be run from Windows, not from DOS and it is not a binary image - so you cannot use another utility like awdflash to flash the BIOS from DOS.
It will be very hard to recover BIOS for this MB as even Uniflash (latest version) doesn't work for this MB. I have saved a few binary images off the same motherboard (using Windows-based flash utility), but I don't know any DOS utility what can flash it back...

I fixed this error on my Gigabyte K8n51gmf - the socket 754 micro ATX with onboard 6100 graphics and a 16X PCI-e slot for graphics upgrades. Basically the trouble started when I used Gigabytes @BIOS update utility. (NEVER USE WINDOWS FLASHING UTILITIES ESPECIALLY @BIOS) The program crashed writing rubbish to the BIOS! I left windows running for two days before rebooting to find it wouldn't boot or load the BIOS anymore.
I was confronted with
AWARD BOOTBLOCK BIOS V1.0
CAN NOT FIND BIOS IMAGE IN HARD DRIVE
CAN NOT FIND BIOS IMAGE IN FLOPPY DRIVE
from another computer I downloaded the latest BIOS from Gigabytes website, copied that to the root of a hard drive I had around and tried to get the BOOTBLOCK BIOS to read from it. FAIL.
Tried again with a floppy disk, formatted it in windows, then copied the BIOS.BIN file to the root of the floppy, rebooted the PC and.... it flashed the correct BIOS and worked!

Welcome to WinDrivers flatron. A self-flashing BIOS can be a very good thing - thanks for commenting on your experience. It may help someone in the same situation.

AWARD BOOTBLOCK BIOS has been around for a long time so I thought it only right to set the record straight that you _can_ recover from these types of boot problems. the motherboard now, is dead, but I blame Gigabyte for that. It was a cheapo board anyway bought in a rush when AM2 motherboards were just a few weeks away and 939 boards were too expensive to be investing in so had to go for a 754
peace.

Yes, we do appreciate your comment, flatron.
Because a couple of posts in the topic are blocked at the moment, it's not clear that Ferrit was lol-ing at one of them, not at your post.
