Email Merge
Have a customer who's laptop took a flying leap of a balcony and took a heck of lot of damage and is unrepairable I was able to recover his data and he would like to merge his outlook express with his other outlook express he has been using on his wife's machine? These are his .DBX files. Is it possble and how? Just as another question can you also merge outlook expess to outlook from outlook express DBX files or viseversa? I guess if all else fails he could create another account on the one he is using and put the DBX files in it.

Merging OE to OE.
Open OE and click <File> <Work offline>. You don't want new email coming in.
If you don't know where the DBX files are, go to <Tool> -> <Options> -> <Maintenance> and click on <Store Folder Button> and note the path to the DBX files.
Close OE, backup the current DBX files.
Put a copy of the old DBX files on the HD.
Open OE, <File> -> <Import> -> <Messages>
Select <Microsot Outlook Express 6> (or what ever program) than <Next>
Choose <Import mail from an OE 6> Click <Next>
Next choose <Import mail from an OE6 Identity> and highlight <Main Identity> -> <OK>
<Browse> to the folder where you put the old DXB files and <OK> than <Next>
On the next Screen, choose the one that makes sense to you, but <All folders> should merge everything over and than <Next>.
If everything goes well, you'll see the messages merged.
Don't forget <File> -> <Work Offline> to reenable OE.
---
Backup the current DXB files if you want.
Import Outlook to OE.
OE, <File> <Import> <Messages> <Microsoft Outlook> <Next>
Choose the folders you want to import.
---
Import OE to Outlook
Open OE, <File> <Export> <OK>
Choose the option that makes sense for you, but <All folders> should be good.
---
You might want to fool around with the OE import and export functions.
Good luck.
