PcChips M577 (?) BIOS beep codes
Afternoon folks,
I have here a system that boots but no video. After about a minute or two, the bios starts beeping. Beep..Beep..Beep..forever...Never quits. No keyboard control either.
It 'looks' like a M577 - that is the right layout. I cannot find any info on the beep codes for it.
Here is what I have tried so far:
Pull-reseat mem chips (sockets are VERY loose, even when clamped)
Diff video card (AGP)
Pulled ISA modem
Diff power supply (it has AT, I tried a ATX on it)
I know this board and all like it are junk. I thought it might be an easy fix - but not so far.
Mobo looks fine. There are some mouse turds on the inside. I think the video card has some dried urine on it (this is not mine).
We've seen it all. At least there are no roaches....
Any suggestions?
A

Actually I'd suggest booting without any cards or memory fitted and see if the beeping is the same. Insistent beeping is likely to be memory, either the loose slots or a faulty card.
Corrupted CMOS memory is a possibility too, so clearing this with either jumper or removing backup battery could be worth trying.

The M577 board has an award bios..an endless loop single beep like you have is a memory error of some sort.

When I pull the RAM out, it beeps exactly the same way. Maybe the PC is not seeing the RAM even when it is in the slot.
I'll try again later with a different chip. It is so loose fitting, its hard to tell if its making contact or not.
Thanks,
A

Here is a step-by-step guide you can use if you have the time and patience to find out exactly what that continuous beeping error is.
