    Unhappy Win XP & ACPI

    when clicking on Start, Log Off Computer...

    my computer desktop looks like it shuts down. However a message displays saying it is now "Safe To Turn Off Computer".

    My BIOS is Phoenxi Award v.6.00PG(somewhat up-to-date) 4/2004 on Mach Speed Motherboard

    How do I fix this?
    using Win XP SP2

    First of all, which are you actually clicking on: "Log Off" or on "Shutdown" ??

    If you're just logging off, that should return you to the Windows XP login screen, rather than shutting the computer down completely.

    If you want the computer to power off after clicking on "Shut Down", you probably need to enable power management in your BIOS settings. (Watch on POST for a message "Press F2 to enter setup" or something similar).
