Media Player 10 doesn't play videos anymore
I'm having some issues with WMP10 at the moment. For some reason over the last few days it has stopped playing videos, whether that be divx/xvid or mpeg. It will play wmv ok and wav/mp3.
I've tried all the usual ideas like reinstalling WMP10 and reinstalling the codecs I use but nothing has worked. I also tried uninstalling the updates I applied a few days back. I've also had a quick look on Google and on the MS support site for help but didn't find anything that matched the problem.
Any ideas folks? I'll keep playing with it in the mean time.

Go to this site and read how to uninstall WMP9 or later.

I tried to uninstall MP10 but it wouldn't let me. I believe from some further reading that MP uses components of directX to go about its daily duties, so checking in dxdiag told me that system.dll is missing and I should reinstall directX 9.0c. Tried that but it pretty much instantly goes to the finished install screen. Some further reading on system.dll told me that it might be an issue with .NET framework 2.0 so I've uninstalled that. I don't know what the outcome of it is as I had to go out before it finished. When I get home, I'm gonna test MP and reinstall if necessary (if it'll let me). I'll reinstall directX if that's possible. Any tips on forcing an reinstall of directX?
I've got a NVidia card and there have been no driver updates in the last month or so to any of my hardware.

I seem to have fixed it. Uninstalled all codec packs on my PC, uninstalled .NET 2 and all recent MP10 updates and reinstalled directx and MP10 and it started working.
Suspect that the k-lite codec pack isnt appreciated by .NET 2 for some reason as everything works ok as long as it's not there.
