Download and run HijackThis from http://www.hijackthis.de/
Copy-and-paste the resulting log back to that same web site (not here)
Click on "Analyze", and then click on "Save Analysis" at the bottom of the next page.
Finally post a link here to the saved analyzed page.

Lets see what really is running then we can tweak the start up, disable or delete some unnecessary services, add/remove programs and so on. You may need some hard drive maintainance also. Let me see a log first.

Is this a re-post of this thread?
    http://forums.windrivers.com/showthread.php?t=76056

Because if it is still about a minute for the laptop to boot like you stated in the other thread then I have to say that is about normal. How does it run when it is fully booted? Because 1 minute is not very slow.

Thanks, Guys. Purple Sky: I looked at the analysis, and everything seems to be OK.

Bob: It is actually 2.5 minutes to completely start-up...I had been mistaken previously. However, the machine runs great once it has started up. Perhaps this is just related to the number of programs that I run.

    Thanks guys-
    Dan

There used to be a utility that Microsoft had out called BootVIS that was wonderful for helping the boot times of computers. I use it at work on on every computer image I make for work. I find it saves 15 seconds to over a minute on the booting of computers. I should take out my Lattitude D600 and see how long that machine takes to boot. It is very similar to the D8xx series. If I find a link for BootVIS I will post it because I think the file is too big to post here.

dear dano i requested the log to see what services and start up items were running. I need to see th elog to see what is running. Also prior to your hjt scan enable all start up items in the msconfig as disabled ones would hide from hjt.

    Hello all,
I am having a similar problem with my system; it takes about 2-3 minutes to fully start up. I have run HJT, and posted to the analysis site. Link to the scan is here:

I see there are a few things that are either unnecessary or nasty. How does one go about removing these processes?

Thanks in advance for the help. I am certainly no pro when it comes to these kind of things...

It's not the computers that keep having problems, it's the users!!
