    KVM solution?

I have a server room with 8 servers on a single KVM switch. (Belkin omniview pro 8 port) Only one server is running Server 2003. The problem is when windows updates auto runs and reboots the 2003 server and the kvm is set to any other server, then the 2003 server does not recognize the kvm keyboard. I change the kvm to channel 2. and see the "Ctrl-Alt-Del to logon" but nothing works unless I do a hard shutdown and restart with the KVM on channel 2. I have tried to put the server on its own keyboard and mouse, but then the monitor quit. Had to put everything back and hard shutdown again.
Has anybody else run into this?

Had exactly the same problems with that switch.
Fortunately it blew during a major f%#kup made by some electrical contractors and I got an IOGEAR which has been great so far.

Do you have the phone number for the electrical contractors?

I know this is not a solution, but couldn't you install updates manually so that the server is not just rebooting without you actually being there?

Yes, manual updates is an option. Remote access/PC anywhere also. Just was hoping for something that would force the server to accept the keyboard since other OS have no problem with the setup.

Sometimes it is the combination of OS and hardware. With the Belkin KVM I had certain servers that were doing it, while others only had an issue with the mouse. In my case the keyboard appeared to get "fixed" after unplugging and re-plugging it.

Yeah. We have 3 belkin omniview kvm's here, and you can't put a linux box on any of them. If you do, it will work fine when you boot it, but the first time you switch to a different pc and try to switch back, the mouse goes nuts.

Okay. Thanks for the input, everyone. I'll try some tweaks, but probably have to go the manual updating option. And in the future avoid the Belkin switch.
