    Red face Catalyst Switch Software

    Greetings: I'm the ne IT guy at my job and I'm trying to find an install CD for a Cysco, Catalys 2900 XP managed switch. In all acuality I'm looking for the web based software that allows me to log on to it istead of having to tle net in or whatever with cables. Can anybod help me? Chris

    2900s should have a webpage built in, mine does. Type in http://<switchIP> and use your enabled password to get in (no username)

    Thank you for such a quick reply. Here is a real dumb question I guess but how can find out the IP of this switch (well I two actually). The previous techies (3) have not left any info. Chris

    Console

    Do you have a console cable that you can plug into the switch and into a computer serial port. Then all you should need is the enable password.
    At the source of every error which is blamed on the computer, you will find at least two human errors, including the error of blaming it on the computer.

    Bob: I don't have a cable. I've been looking ion ebay for one but I really don't want to go that route unless I have to. Any thoughts on how to determine the IP of the switch? I've run an IP scan of the network but none of the ones I found were the switches. Chris

    typically a switch is given a low IP address -- x.x.x.1, x.x.x.2, etc

    Do you even know the password for the device?
