Compaq EVO n610 Bios password
O.K. who out there knows which chip on the bobo is the bios password. I have a messed up board, but do not know which chip I need to unsolder and replace. SOMEBODY knows. I really do NOT want to pay some recovery place for the location of the chip. Please help! Thanks in advance!

You can find Manuals for your Evo N610 Notebook here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...eriesId=316664
Surely, one of those manuals will tell you how to Reset your BIOS password.
Also, this is from HP's Support Forums:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/f...eriesId=316664
Follow thes steps:
- Unplug AC,
- take out the main battery;
- take out the RTC-battery for app. half an hour (the period of 5 min as specified in the MSG normally is not long enough);
- reconnect RTC-battery;
- plug in the AC adapter (battery still removed).
The machine will boot and show the 162-error-msg.
Note: pls strictly keep to the sequence. Re-starting with the main battery inserted will spoil the job.
Caveat: All settings are set back to factory standard. You'll have to enter a correct date/time etc.
I'm good enough.
I'm smart enough.
And doggone it,

You Guys Rock!
Thanks for all the courteous help for this. I expected to have to unsolder all the 8 pin chips on the motherboard to find the right one! Pulling the batteries worked like a charm! This forum is still one of the best around. I'll have to start doing much more posts to help folks out with my limited knowledge to return the carma. THANKS AGAIN!
