Did you purchase a extended warranty?? You may be SOL. How smooth
are the strokes when you hit the keys are they Stickey?? I would contact Toshiba and explain it is right out of warranty. and they should have built it better. Do you have usb you could get a key board from from your local computer retailer and be back on your laptop typing away.

    First of all-Welcome to Windrivers

20/20 hindsight can only help with future purchases but laptops are hard to work on and the warranty is the most important part of the purchase.

That being said....Maybe a local shop can do a keyboard cleaning.
Below is a couple of how to's.

3fingersalute will probably know if it could be software related.I watch the responses from 3fingersalute he will probably help on this post.

Do any keys at all work?

Does it work before Windows loads (ie - if you boot to a bootable cd, does it work) ??

Have you tried an external keyboard?

Has anything happened recently that would have caused this (has it been dropped, did somebody spill something on it, etc.) ?

Well, I would try pulling the keyboard, make sure the ribbon cable is connected properly. If it is, sounds like you may need to replace the keyboard, but definitely see if you can get is in yet for warranty replacement first. You might get lucky, depending on the date of purchase on your original sales receipt.

Even though wrong topic it is still a picture guide to get keyboard in and out of laptop.

    Still be slow and cautious.

Overheating of your model is so common place if your steady and knowledgeable of laptops........You may as well solve that issue while your in there. Best of Luck.

Step 12 is pretty neat they assume all laptop repair people play a guitar.

May be you are supposed to stop at step 11 play guitar a while then proceed.

    Meditation.....hummmm.
Street1 is not very good with laptops he has 10 thumbs and has been zapped green by Mayet.Sorry another attack of ADS .

Serious note :Pay close attention to help by 3fingersalute.

He is darn good with laptops.

Usually, keyboards are pretty easy to replace, but you need to shop around. I needed a Compaq keyboard for a customer just last week, and I found vendors selling it from $35 to $139! Believe it or not, Compaq was the vendor at $35.
