Sweet Mother of Pearl...
Ok... I have this problem on my network... but only from ONE workstation. Whenever I play an MP3 file (no other format, just MP3) and that is ANY mp3 file, my network connections (mapped drives, access to server, other machines) all DISCONNECT. IT doesn't matter if the mp3 is played from a network share, or from the local computer's hard disk. I have tried mp3's i created, mp3's I downloaded legaly, and a CD i ripped.
I have a Windows 2000 Server running SP4 with all patches current. The workstation is a WinXP Pro fresh build (like three weeks old)...
I have had this problem before, but it went away mysteriously and I don't know why it went away or what i did to bring it back. Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.
I have made one registry change... did some surfing and found an article about NT shares auto-disconnecting... I used a command line utility to make it so that they NEVER disconnect...

What are you using to play the MP3's?
Have you tried a different player?

Sorry I didn't include that info...
Yes, I have tried several players... WMediaPlayer, WinAmp, QuickTime, etc...
Also, if this info helps... I CAN play movies... like AVI, DivX, Mpeg, MOV, etc... When i play a video clip over the network or locally it does NOT disconnect.
Don't ask me... I just work here.
