Unhappy A7V333 USB 2.0 Controller Not Found, Plz Help!

Hello WinDrivers.com, ((( A bit long, but detailed for help )))

As I've read many other posts, but I still cannot resolve this problem.

I have a Asus A7V333 with 2 USB1.x and 2 USB 2.0 on-board ports. It also has two more USB ports that can be setup for USB 1.x or 2.0.

My problem: My USB 1.x ports will work, however my USB 2.0 will not work. They will not respond when I attach any USB 2.0 device to them such as my FireLite 60GB Ex HDD I got. I seem to be getting power cause I attach a small flash memory stick and I get a steady light. I went through my device manager and there is no USB 2.0 controller shown or even one missing a driver (e.g. Unknown Device). There are two 'USB Hub Roots' and two 'VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controllers' the USB controller branch in the device manager. I am running WinXP and have SP2 installed and updated.

    I have:
    - Upgraded my BIOS, VIA chipset drivers, and USB 2.0 drivers.
    - Enabled both Legacy USB support on Onboard USB
    - Enabled USB 2.0 jumper on MB
    - Tested both onboard and extra set of USB 2.0
    - Uninstalled/Rebooted/Allowed WinXP to find new hardware - still no go.

The system just doesn't seem to be aware of the USB 2.0 controller. I am running out of ideas and really would like to get this to work. If you have any information please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I had a similiar incident recently where a fully USB 2 board had USB 1 only.
I discovered after a while there was some corruption and reloaded SP2 over the top again.
That fixed the USB 2.0 issue.
Not sure if this will help but it did for me

I tried to reinstall SP2 however still no go. I remember when I first bought WinXP and this MB, I never could get it to work. I just never really had any new USB 2.0 devices until now to really be concerned with the USB 2.0 ports. I've also had to reinstall WinXP and service packs a couple of times over the past couple of years and never any success. I don't want to buy an addtional PCI USB card if I don't have to.

In my experience, the appropriate Drivers are usually on the CD that comes with th MthBd. Sometimes we have had to do the "I will select the Drivers..." install option. Let us know of your success?

Even if the drivers were missing, the device manager would show the usb 2.0 controller or an unknown device.

USAF, do you still have the usb 2.0 bracket - can you try attaching it and seeing if this makes a difference? (Long shot)

I think that if you are confident you have set the bios and jumpers correctly for usb 2.0 and no device shows up in device manager, you may have a faulty usb 2.0. Have you tried downloading everest and getting a report? This may show the hardware that device manager doesn't.

Timing Issues with VIA Chipset based motherboards can sometimes be fixed by setting the chip performance speed in the BIOS to Normal instead of Strong, Turbo, Optimal or Fast. The setting title and location varies by manufacturer and board type.
