Sony DRU-820A Code 10
I am running windows XP w/SP1 my DVD burner litterally craped out on me so I bought a new one. As per the instructions I installed by removeing the old one and setting the new one in its place with the jumper settings as they were. now I have checked and double checked the settings on both the jumper on the device and in BIOS as soon as windows loads up however my computer will not recognize the driver other than to say that, Sony DVD RW DRU-820A error. So in device manager I look at the issue and it is saying that Device will not start (code 10). And the troubleshooter is no hel[p what so ever. Can someone please help me before I go nuts and beat the everloving shat out of my computer.

The cdrom.sys, imapi.sys, redbook.sys and stopprop.dll are the windows XP Pro ones I run with nothing else on my LG and it works ok.
Code 10 on mine has usually meant drivers not found or incorrect.
You might go back to the driver windows and uninstall, then reboot and see if windows picks the right ones then.

Check if the ribbon cable and is properly inserted in the motherboard and drive. If you have another one, try to swap it. Also check the power connector.

thanks but I got the DVD Drive to recognize but now I have a different issue
When I try to burn a disk, using NERO 6.0 Ultra Edition, my computer tells me that another application is trying to use the DVD drive at the same time, however nothing else on my computer is running except NERO.
