    Computer keeps booting to BIOS

    Hello,

For some reason my computer keeps booting to the BIOS setup menu whenever I try to start it.
I originally had 2 sticks of 256mb DDR and 1 stick of 512mb DDR400 although I had the two 256mb sticks in channel a slot 0 and channel b slot 0 and the 512mb in channel b slot1. This worked fine for months but the other day the computer wouldnt boot and gave me an error message saying that I should have the same type of ram in both slots to run as dual channel (or something like that) So I pulled out the 512mb stick and reboot but no luck. (Despite the bios detecting the memory change) Then I pulled out the 2x256mb sticks and put in the 512mb stick instead. It managed to boot once to XP but then on another reboot no luck. Now it just keeps booting to the BIOS setup no matter what I do.

I have reset the bios to defaults mnay times but still no luck. Any ideas as to what I can do to fix this?

    TIA

Why would that make a difference? The BIOS still holds the time and all that no problems so wouldnt that mean the battery is okay? I have tried a few different sticks of ram so can rule out faulty ram.

Is the keyboard key stuck that takes you to Bios?

    Try another keyboard.

Oh my god I dont believe it Street1 your a legend. Even though i was able to use the keyboard to enter the system time (which is why I didnt even think of the keyboard) I looked down and the DEL key on the num pad was stuck down slightly which I didnt notice when I checked.

    Thanks heaps your a legend.
