    Belkin Pre-N router workgroup problem

I have 3 PCs (2 running XP Pro, 1 running XP Home). All have both wireless and ethernet cards installed using dynamic addressing. I'm using the Belkin Pre-N router F5D8230-4 for my internet chores, and I'm having no problem there. The problem is, while I can ping all my PCs, I can't get them to show up in my workgroup, but I can hook up the PC's via the ethenet method to a hub and my PCs all show up in the workgroup.

    Things I've tried:
    • Made sure the workgroup name on all PCs are the same
    • Disabled the ethernet NICs when trying to workgroup the PCs in wireless mode
    • Tried drive mapping in wireless mode... no success there either.

I'm hoping someone can give me a tip or two with this problem. Thanks!

hmmm...make sure all software firewalls are disabled, and maybe try reserving IP's by MAC address...then you can map the network drives using the IP instead of the UNC name (i.e. \\192.168.0.100\sharename )...your router may even allow you to allocate IP's by the computer name...I think mine might, but it's a d-link, and I haven't played with that feature in ages. you may also want to check the rules on the router to ensure that there aren't any crazy rules that would deny access between computers.

I've tried that as well, but no luck.

I'll investigate further, but up to now I've not found anything. I'll let you know.
