first rig, no boot, need help

Hey guys,
This is my first time here, and im in need of help. Im building my first rig and i have everything plugged in, start it up, hear no beeping, power is on on the mobo light, but no boot or display on the monitor, the crt monitor just goes into power saving whilr the fans whirl away in the case. Im running a brand new P5N32 SLI Deluxe, with a xfx geforce 6800 GS with the dual slots in the card, im using the adapter for the monitor that came with the graphics card. Ive tried doing a few things, but still no good. Im just hoping i can get it to boot myself before i get fed up and take it to my local computer tech place, everything is new, and shouldnt be broken. Thanks.

The first thing you should try is new standoffs.Motherboard shorting out on case is most common problem.You can benchtest your motherboard outside of case on a non conductive suface before installing.
