question about network card: 3com gigabit LOM (3C940)
hey guys, i know a little about computers, but i didn't know how to download the new driver for the 3com gigabit LOM (3C940). i was downloading a world of warcraft video, and it said that i need to update or reinstall my driver (3C940). the problem is... i can't find any links or sites that has that the new driver. i think that the 3C940 is an old version... sense i couldn't find any resources for that specific networking card or whatever it is.
do you gys have any advice on what i should do?
any links to the new driver?
i went to the website: 3com, but i couldnt find anything related to my card except the 3C920 version...
i need help becuase i think this might be a problem when i download future game patches or what not.
thanks for your time,
chad

yeah, i tried that, but it leads me to the 3com site for some reason and then i can't find anything about the model 3C940.
if could possibly find that from the site... that woud be great.
if not, do i have to become a member to version tracker and fork out a few bucks?
or... if i have a few extra bucks... how much would it cost to buy another one? mabey wone without any problems? hehe
you guys know of any cheap price, good quality ones out there?
and could you just send a few links? mabey off ebay? i know close to nothing about a new network card... thats what the thing i'm having a problem with... right?

What mobo are you running? If you don't know go to MajorGeeks.com and download Everest Home edition and run it, it'll tell you.

i think i found the problem...
it's not the 3com gigabit LOM 3C940 thats having problems...
it's my RAID Controller...
it says it cannot be detected.
and says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)"
what do I do? does this mean i never had a raid controller?
if not, where can i get one for cheap?
any specific links to one i should get for cheap?
edit: i used the everest home edition, and i'm almost possitive i don't have a raid controller becuase it couldn't detect anything installed releted to a raid controller.
so anyone have a raid controller link that is real cheap and should work fine?
and what does a raid controller even do...?

I am confused here I guess - you start off by implying that your comp worked but then ran into difficulty downloading something. Now you say the problem is a raid issue when you don't have raid running.
I am outa ideas at this point.
