IE behaving strangely lately...
in the past 3 days I've been seeing odd behaviour increasing seemingly exponentially. two days ago I got a call from a customer and we talked about how his internet explorer was openning and then closing itself several seconds later. Yesterday I talked to two other customers that seemed to have the same problem. Today between myself and several other people doing supoprt, we've counted 12 people so far with this issue. I ahven't had the opportunity to look at a system yet so I have no idea what's going on. Has anyone else encountered this and if so any resolution yet?

Uninstall the Yahoo tool bar.
There was a push down update that started this behaviour a day or two ago.

At present, no. But I fixed a lot of machines at a client's place today -- process of elimination -- Yahoo toolbar common to all affected machines -- remove toolbar -- remove problem.
And when I called the client's ISP to get help with a router problem, I couldn't get through because they were swamped with calls -- only got a recorded message to this effect: "If you are calling because your Internet Explorer shuts itself down as soon as it starts, go to add remove programs and uninstall the Yahoo toolbar. There was an update to the toolbar which has caused this problem. "

Cool. I am quite certain it will work.

Hello All,
I have recently acquired a “Tiny” computer; built 1995 with a 20GB.hard drive running Windows 98 Updated from 95. It worked but very slowly because it contained 12GB. of programmes, games and rubbish. I made a boot up disk but omitted to test it before formatting the hard drive.
When I fire up the computer with the boot disk inserted the “AMBIOS System Configuration” is displayed. At the bottom of the display it says;
“Searching for Boot Disk from floppy…OK”
“Remove the disk or other media”
“Press any key to restart”
When I followed these instructions I then got..
“Searching for boot disk from Floppy…Not Found”
“Searching for boot disk from IDE-O…..OK”
There is a flashing prompt below this, just a bar, nothing else.
No matter what I do nothing moves.
I have used a boot disk I downloaded from “Windriver” but get the same results
and have also tried the above instructions with a Windows 98 installation Rom inserted
but again the same result.
If anyone can give me some advice on how to overcome this problem I would be most grateful.
Many thanks
Emmo.

And Emmo, I would suggest starting a new topic for your problem. Adding it to mine, most people won't see the question.
