    I tried the driver sugested.

after that the system went in to such a state where it was unable to show anything on screen.

I was able to see the windows xp initial screen and then hard disk check and then display was hanging. though computer used to boot up but display was in hang state,

finally i formatted the c drive and loaded windows xp again. and now i am again on generic xp drivers.

is this correct behaviour, ? did i miss out any thing?

No it's not correct behaviour... it would seem that the onboard video is quietly dying...you might want to consider gettng an agp or pci video card and installing that instead.

If you haven't done any updates then install the chipset drivers anyway.

today I tried the driver suggested by you.

this time computer did not reported problem like last night. but there is still yellow question mark opposite video controller ( VGA compatible).

if I remove the win xp driver and then restart the PC..it again takes the same driver.

the problem is still there after loading files of 4 in 1
