    computer does not boot

    i have a serious problem, i hope you guys can help me,
    my computer does not boot, there is power on the computer (lights, fan, etc.) but the problem is, after i turn on the power, nothing happens, and then after a few seconds the hdd light goes off and the computers stays on idle...need any help i could get...tnx...worse comes to worse, im afraid of that there might be something wrong with the motherboard and i have to replace it! waaaaaaaaaaaaa

    Welcome to WinDrivers, stellar.

    I think the first two things I'd look at are a reset of the CMOS memory (either with the CLR_CMOS jumper if there is one on the mainboard or removing the backup battery for a few minutes) in case its data has become corrupted and is setting impossible boot conditions, or maybe a faulty power supply.

    Do you know if you have on board video or card? And when you power up
    you see the usual lights and hear fans. ALSO does the light on your monitor stay green??

    Firstly, look inside the machine, look at the capacitors is there any yellowy brown gunk there? Sounds like a classic case of popped caps if its turning on and off like that
