Come to find out in windows XP you can no longer uninstall TCP/IP you can only reset the stack with a command line. Has any one been able to uninstall TCP/IP if so how. Per MS web site can't be done apart of the OS now and is grayed out you can install another TCP/IP but gives you ver 6.

Nope..can't be done. version 6 has been part of XP since sp1 though. There are a few tools out there that can rebuild the stack though..winsockxpfix is the one I use all the time, and you can get it a lot of places, including here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817571/en-us lets you remove corrupted winsock entries from the registry and re-install TCP/IP over itself. This sometimes works better than repair tools like winsockxpfix, LSPFix, etc.
