Why do you post HELP here?
Me, I grew extremely tired of inane chat groups repeating the same-old same-old all the time and thought I could actually offer some help to people, limited as my knowledge is, just like I do in the Meals-on-Wheels program.
Sometimes we simply wanna help where we can. AND, we learn too!
BUT DON'T ASK ME FOR MONEY!

I just like to be able to give someone else the benefit of what experience and knowledge I might have, to maybe get them out of trouble.
I've got a lot of useful stuff myself that way, so it pays it back somewhat.

It helps me keep my skillz sharp helping people in here. I also do support in the chat and that helps my phone support skills a lot as well.
I dont expect anything in return because I get much more then I give just by reading in here and listening to problems in the chat room.
I see stuff thats old and stuff thats brand new and I see some stuff over and over but its all good ya know
And heaven forbid i make mistakes sometimes too.
Thank goodness friendly people correct me and dont berate me.

I don't post help - I make up random stuff that sounds like it might work, and I'm as amazed as the OP when it does.

Lately it seems like whenever I post help people yell at me for it. Either that or they just ignore my help because they just automatically assume I don't know what I'm talking about and then thank the next guy who posted the same exact help as I posted.
I.e.
User1: Where's the start button?
Me: In the lower left corner of your screen
ignore
ignore
ignore
User 2: Try looking in the lower left corner of your screen.
User 1: Thanks a lot User2! You're the best!
Me: *sigh*
Funny thing about this is that I always appreciate ANY help I get. Even if it's wrong -- I'm just thankful someone would want to even try in the first place. But I guess not everyone is like that.

I help because I enjoy solving problems and other people's problems are always easier to solve than your own!
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Webhead, thanks for showing me where the start button is...
...And all the help you have provided WinDrivers members over the years.

the semantics of your grammar means that you are only thanking Webhead for helping the members...

Well let's just say I can relate to what Webhead is saying about trying to help and getting grief for it sometimes. Whether it's cyber grief or IRL grief.
