    Unhappy Event Viewer problems

When I click on an event in the "Event Viewer" app the "Event Properties" window open as expected.

In the description there is the following message that contains a link: "For more information see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft....etc." When I click on the link nothing happens.

What is supposed to happen is a prompt declaring that "This information will be sent to Miscrosoft...ect...do you want to send it?" If you click yes the "Help and Support Center website will come up.

But I get nothing: not even the prompt. For me, the link is dead.

    Any suggestions?

Running Windows XP SP2 -up to date.

    Welcome to Windrivers mizzer.

What event ids and names are listed in the event viewer? I'm wondering if a service is not started...

I have had this happen on PC's with slight network problems, there is an always 'on' connection to the internet but for some reason that link doesn't find it also for some odd reason it doesn't report that fact, when I have come across it before I have (apart from checking 'help and support' service is running, although if not you would get an error message about that) simply opened an internet explorer page before hitting the link, it then connects ok and takes you to the help centre, I have always only found this happens when the RJ45 plug needs a good clean out or the RJ11 connection needs a bit of a clean up, just cleaning the contacts to ensure a good connection and it's always been very infrequent so to be honest I've never delved any deeper into the probable cause.
    hope this helps a bit.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. Do you need a list of all the services running at startup or the services listed in the event viewer?

Here is the easier of the two: Event Viewer Services

    Application
    Security
    System Log
    ACEEventLog
    Antivirus

I mean, do you have warnings and errors in the viewer about services not being able to start in Application and System Viewer?
What sort of warnings and errors are you getting?
