Windows Stop message...computer illiterate here...help!
My dd's desktop computer hasn't been updated since probably around 2003. She has been really using it a lot lately, and installing a lot of computer games like Pet Vet, Fetch, etc. The other night, we got the dreaded blue screen, but it went away after rebooting the computer. Now, it's come back, and I can't even get to windows (xp, home edition) in safe mode. The system just gets hung up. I really dread reformatting the drive because I have some old documents I have never backed up (I never thought dd would "blow up the computer" lol). So, is there anything else I can do?
Here's what the blue screen says under tech info:
Stop -- 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0x8060AB13, 0xF6A0B9AC, 0x00000000)
As far as I can get with google is that the first number sequence is Kernel Mode Exception Not Handled. Any advice would be appreciated.
