    Antivirus boot discs

    Hi,
Just wondering what antivirus boot cd's you lot recommend? And how do ya go about updating them with the latest virus definitions before you run them? Is this the most effective way for virus removal, or are there better ways, apart from the obvious format c:

Never need them (I scan the drive on an isolated machine) ... but avast do a set which also work with NTFS
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

I use BartPE/WinXPE for a little bit of everything. Its very handy but I have had mixed results with virus scanners. I have had the best luck with PE in combination with command line or rescue disk scanners because the dependencies/services for the full blown GUI are a bear to set up.
I am sure one day someone will come up with an AVGfree or Avast free plugin but until then its the command line for me.

    Download NOD32 from (www.nod32.com)
Install update and boot into safe mode.
Safe mode 2nd best area to be in to do a full scan of any virus or malware. (most are not active in safe mode)
1st is boot from a CD like Hirens and run the DOS version of NOD32 or any other DOS scanner you prefer.
