Hi Kolokythaki,
Go here and download and install those utilities and drivers that you need. I saw three that would likely benefit you.
AMD drivers page
I didn't see any patches for x2 that Microsoft had released themselves.
Take care of you!

Let me take this opportunity to state that I believe Ferrit has the best avatar in the history of mustelid avatars.

I agree he does have a cool avatar.
BTW: I don't understand the whole dual core thing? if I run two applications at once will one core handle one app?

At this point in time are able to set the affinity to a particular app in the task manager. It has limitations such as that affinity does't stay after a reboot.
I would hope sometime soon some clever fellow would write a nice lil gui interface for some of the command line affinity programs out there such as RunFirst or somesuch.
That would make it easy to designate certain apps to certain cores.
So for example run all the mundane protection stuff AV,Spyware, email, etc on 1 core fulltime and that allows the second core to do the major stuff such as video or audio work. Then you wouldn't get a burp in video encodeing like you can get if say your AV kicks in while your encoding.

Would a dual core processor work in Windows XP home? or Pro only?

I read what you posted Ferrit, and then I found this link to more info on dual cores in WinXP home

Well, I think there's a major proplem with the cool & quiet (also conflicts with sound card-audigy 2 ZS-and my 4X512 ram) so I disabled it.
Because control panel--> system says that I have 990MHz or 1,78G instead of 2.2G !
But cool & quiet is a very important function and I need it. Can I avoid disable it?
Ferrit, do u use properly cool & quiet?

what is the actual id code on the processor?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
