hello
want to start letting you know that this oldman dont know what fasttrack378 or raid is , have been reading up on it for going on a year now
and the more i read the more confused i get. is this something i need?
everytime i boot up i get the fasttrack 378 is not installed in bios , but in my device manager i got winxp Promise Fasttrack 378 and winxp Promise RAID
Console SCSI Processer Device is enabled and running properly.
in my BIOS under ADVANCED tab i got OnBoard Promise Controller [ENABLED]
and Operating Mode set to [RAID]. if i dont need this raid stuff what do i do toget it uninstalled?
hope someone can understand what i am trying to say.

You have 2 80mb drives... plugged into where? The Raid is a way of configuring a number of drives to provide speed, fault tolerance or mirroring (or all three). It is usually the preserve of a business file server or a serious gamer.
If you don't need it, disable it in bios.

i had this computer custom built , i used to play these air simulation games.
all i know is that it has two WD 80G SATA 3.0G 1MB cache hard drives
and i noticed that they are plug up with flat red cables.
when it boots up it has promise fasttrack 378 and a fasttrack bios number
but right under that its got fasttrack378 is not installed in BIOS.
shoot i dont know.
when you say disable it in BIOS do you mean to put on Board Promise controller on [DISABLE] and change the operating mode to [IDE]?
if i disable it , will it slow down my pc?
thanks much , i appreciate it

Without looking at it, I don't know. Have you donwloaded the manual? You could work out what is connected to where... and therefore what you are using and what you are not.

Asus has one of the best sites for mobo info going - sometimes a bit obtuse:
Your board: edit: may not be YOUR board but is an example - lol
