Problem Disabling 1394 Net Adapter
I hope someone can help with a difficult problem I am having. We use the Unibrain Fireboard Blue firewire adapter. In machines that have multiples of these cards (PCI cards), we have the following problem:
When trying to disable the Firenet Adapter from Device Manager in Windows XP SP2, the device manager locks up. If I kill the device manager process, then the machine still runs but if I try to restart, it just hangs. If I try to shutdown, it just hangs. I am at wits end. I have tried everything.
I look forward to anyone's advice on this matter.
Best Regards

Welcome to WinDrivers:
Why are you trying to disable one or more of the installed firewire cards? I don't believe too many resources are being used if the card(s) isn't being used.
On the other hand, if you want one or more 'gone', pull the card.
I don't know if you have plug and play BUT I would think turning it off might help since it may be a resource allocation re irq's you are running into.
All just guesses from me.

Just how many pci firewire cards are you fitting in one machine? What motherboards?
Have you tried booting to safe mode and using device manager from safe mode logged in as Administrator?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

I assume you're selecting not used or disable for the 1394 Network Adaptor devices in the hardware profile? Have you tried only fitting one card at a time, disabling in the profile, fitting the next card, disabling & so on?
