Really slow to log in (Log on window)
IBM T41 (laptop)
Win XP SP2
~ Very slow logging in with any user..
~ It is logging into an office environment (intranet).
~ I have tried different Ethernet ports
~ I captured the image to another T41, still slow to log in (seems like a XP software issue).
~ Unchecked almost all applications besides IBM specific in Msconfig>startup
~ logging in as local admin has no problem.
Any other suggestions?

You can download and run HijackThis and see how many programs you actually have running just after boot-up.
There are things you can do to 'help' your computer, like use Internet Explorer Tools, Internet Options, delete cookies, delete files, and clear history.
Then empty your trash bin.
Then defragment your drive.
If you wish, make and post a HijackThis log to get an opinion on what is there:

It's probably looking for network shares when you login.
Open my computer.
tools - folder options -
under the view tab. advanced settings. top tick box. deselect.
And Control Enter STILL wont let me post a reply.
