New life for an old server...
I have an interesting orphan of a server sitting in my office...
Digital AlphaServer 2100 4/275
Quite an angry-looking big-rig monster of a machine. She lived life as a Tru64-powered application server. Other than one failed internal drive (and I have several spares to replace from the three StorageWorks towers that were attached to it), she's fine hardware-wise.
So... what kind of trouble can I get into with this behemoth? Ideas? Suggestions? She can apparently run Linux (Debian, anyway), so that's a start. I'd like to do more with her than just supplemental winter heating of my office space.
And feel free to wax nostalgic about your memories about such a system that was near and dear to your OpenVMS or Tru64 heart. I was barely out of high school when this system was born, and didn't even get into IT until she was past her prime.

You could run a Halo server. Those are always fun.
Also in the past, I have taken big old servers and just turned them into a PC and given them away to anyone who really needed a machine. You should post a pic... lol.
