No Sound On Re-Formatted XP Pro
i recently was having problems with my pc, so i deleted the partition on the hard drive, and made a new partition and put win xp pro on my pc, now there is a ! beside my multimedia audio controller device...and i dont know how to fix it..

i went to intel's website and downloaded the drivers they said were correct. they did not work, and i even went to gateway's drivers and those didnt work..i need help

I believethis is the right one
To make sure you have a couple of options
go here and enter your gateway serial number or go here for an automatic scan and it will provide the drivers you need,

the auto update didnt work....it said that i couldnt update to it because i have a service pack...it said only used for pc's with no sp..
and ive also tried the other 2 like last night....just nothing seems to work...i will say this though....i did use a dell re-install disc...if that means anything

its a gateway pc, but i used a dell xp pro re-install disc..

Why? Where are your Gateway disks? What gateway serial no and model number do you have?

i dont have gateway discs...thats my problem...i dont have any discs..serial # is... 0028292012, and im not sure what model #

Well the good news is that the driver I linked you to IS the right driver.
Now what we need to do is go through what the error message(s) are in detail when you try and install it.
Please post EXACTLY what the error message is when you attempt to install the driver from this link

that driver takes like almost an hour on my pc to install...and ive tried that 3 times...it does nothing...the gateway update did install the drivers but there is a code 1 for explination beside multimedia audio controller,driver not configured correctly
would it help if i did my auto-updates? for my windows

i just went and searched for the files i needed manually, and got em, that update did help though...ty for finding that.. TYTY
