    Disassembly of laptop

I've a Toshiba Satellite A105-S361 that appears to be overheating. (Naturally the warranty just expired)

I want to remove the back, (bottom) and clean and check the fan/cpu, etc.

There are 20 million screws underneath. I'd like to acquire disassembly instructions. Any idea of where to get them?

    Thanks,

    John

Thanks, it looks like my on board fan is toast, it runs at start-up for ten seconds then shuts down - no matter how hot the laptop gets.

it is normal for the fan to run just at startup and then cut out. The fans are thermally controlled, so they will only turn on when things get hot enough. You should be able to just blast the fan and heatsink with compressed air to remove the dust/crud that is blocking normal airflow.

Also, most of these new laptops have 3 states for the fan. Off, low and high. If the fan is only on low, it is doubtful that you will hear it run.

Yeah, I know for a lot of the dell series you can download software and isntall that will allow you to control what temps kick it from off to low and low to high, not sure on the Toshiba's though.
