"toolbar" on side won't go away
this is related to the other post but there is a "toolbar" down the left side ( in addition to the one containing start, etc on the bottom ) and it won't go away. Now the sidebar was enabled and that is now turned off but there is still a gray bar that goes down the side. teh only options i can find are to add toolbar functions to it or to autohide it. any ideas why/where this came from and how to get rid of it.

thanks shamus but that is for xp I neglected to say this is vista home premium. It also doesn't say what "common tasks pane" looks like and I can't seem to find anything else on it. this is just a grey bar down the side like you had moved the taskbar but there is nothing in it and the taskbar is still at the bottom. If you right click it the only options are.... let me see "always on top", "auto-hide", and a toolsbars menu to add various toolbars to the taskbar....
