NORTON SECURITY 2006 and windows security update conflict?
Been searching the web,and forums for a solution ,unsuccessfully to date.Would like opinion /answers with regards to a conflict between my updated Norton Security 2006 and windows XP.My NS 2006 protects me from spy/adware just fine but windows service pack 2 security apparently doesn't realize this.Last time Norton resolved a specific spyware attack, windows auto downloaded a security fix named malware, which I couldnt shake off no matter what I tryed ,until I finally made a destructive recovery to resolve.
I have the intelligence (i think haha) to manually download windows updates, but definitely not the time.Any suggestions on how I can allow automated windows updates and continue using NS 2006 as I have for ever?
Has anyone else had problems as well?

Welcome to Windrivers Eccentric
You can configure Norton to allow wuauclt.exe through the firewall - this is the process that does the updating. modifying a firewall rule instructions here At the bottom of that link there links for scanning for web enabled programs and how to add a rule.
You should also check by clicking start, run and typing in
services.msc
that the Automatic Updates service is started and is set to automatic.
more explanations here
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
