audio drivers for qdi platinix 2-A mobo

    opsys win 2k sp4
    mobo platinix 2-A
    mobo maker qdi
    cpu p4 1.8ghz

I do not have sound output through the onboard sound out jack. I checked relevant mobo jumpers and they seem fine.

"? multimedia audio controller" is what my device manager shows. so i started looking for audio drivers.

The mobo manual says it has ac97 2.1 compliant audio and an i845 chipset.

I looked at intel web site and they don't have ac97 drivers available for onboard audio on a non-intel board. ( I actually downloadeded the latest i845 chipset utility software and installed it but this had no effect on the audio.)

I looked at the qdi website and they say I should use the drivers on the CD that came with the computer which I do not have.

anyone have these mobo audio drivers?

    Thank you for looking.

    Welcome to Windrivers skeenna

QDI will have the right drivers. here are the specs and and drivers are here however it is not clear which one you need of the sound drivers. I can tell you it's not the SIS or the VIA and it is most likely to be the 1881 codec.

audio drivers qdi platinix 2-A mobo

Thank you for the prompt response.

I downloaded from the 1881 link.

It installed in program files a folder named Analog Devices and in that a folder named SoundMax ( which is what the installer said it was installing.)

Analog Devices i believe is the name of the company associated with the soundmax software.

    still no sound
still have ? multimedia audio controller in device manager

    still need the driver.

but did you actually install the driver?

Go into device manager and click update driver and allow it to search on the internet as well. If that finds nothing, then uninstall the drivers and reboot then allow it to search again.

It's possible that you need one of the ALC codecs instead... it depends which one they put on the motherboard... the manual doesn't say.

    problem solved!

I tried doing as you said with the updating of the driver and un installing it.

    no luck.

i tried the alc 201 download

    no luck

    i tried the crystal download.

    that was the charm.

Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction for the solution!
