Difficulties with usb 2.0 drivers on nforce chipset

Hey guys. My last mobob died on me so i got a new one (second hand) from the computer shop, anyway, long story short, i had to download the drivers (its an asus A8N-VM CSM) but no usb 2.0 drivers included there, and tried downloading all nforce drivers as well, to no avail!!! i remember having a similar problem a couple years ago, and finding microsoft usb 2 drivers which sorted the problem. Anyone know where i can find them, or any other ideas?

Gman, you omitted to say which operating system you are using...

I've used a few of those boards and never had a problem with usb - what are you trying to connect? (other than a mouse)

Are you saying the mouse doesn't work?

Sorry, NooNoo, i'm a bit hungover today and neglected to mention a few things

I can use usb no worries, it's just that everything is running in usb1.1 mode, and windows (xp, sp2) is popping up down the bottom saying that my hi-speed devices could run faster on a 2.0 port. Then it tells me that I don't have any of those though :-p

I can't seem to find USB drivers for the nforce anywhere, as well... checked out the driver package (80mb) and it has no reference to usb whatsoever.

Can't think what the problem might be!

Since you built this yourself, I would refer you to the manual for the motherboard so that you can check the usb settings in bios.

The other thing is, have you checked you have plugged in the front usb to the right headers?

I never thought to check the bios, will do that now. As for the other stuff, unfortunately I got the board thru the local computer shop, and they offerred a warranty only on the proviso (sp?) that they install it and seal the case, so i have to assume they've done all of that stuff correctly. Also, not using front USB in any case.

In that case, if the bios settings are right, you will need to go back to them and ask why none of the ports are USB 2.0 !!

Check out the manual and see which ones should be usb 2.0 - I can't remember if there is a mix of ports on that board or not.

BIOS is correct, says 'ENABLE USB 1.1 CONTROLLER' , 'ENABLE USB 2.0 CONTROLER' -- everything is enabled and as it should be...

According to the manual, all ports are 2.0.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that.... Do you not think this is a driver related issue? I can't even seem to get windows to forcibly install a EHCI (or whatever it is) driver

Turn off the 1.1 controller. Boot to safe mode. Remove any and all usb entries from device manager. Reboot (leaving 1.1 off in bios) and let windows reinstall usb. Wait till it get's fully to desktop. Reboot again. Wait till it get's fully to desktop and then plug in a usb device.

I thought of something similar- the only problem is that when i disable 1.1 controller in bios, the option for the 2.0 controller dissapears..

That, and the fact that my keyboard and mouse are usb, and I don't have spares available at the moment.
