C&VG has the first word on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky, the upcoming next game in the post-apocalyptic first person shooter series from developer GSC GameWorld. The info, which comes from the UK based magazine PC Zone, reveals that this new game is actually a prequel to the first game Shadow of Chernobyl as it goes into the origins on one of the main characters of the first game. Clear Sky has 50 percent of the original game's locations (but altered) and 50 percent new locations.

GSC Game World has launched the teaser website, but it's not much to look at yet, in addition to a slideshow of miniature screenshots. Furthermore, new features are mentioned in a small window, containing the already known DirectX 10 support, but also yet unknown innovations like the X-Ray engine 1.5, a visually improved version of the previously used X-Ray engine of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. There's also a release date: 1st quarter of 2008.
