Yes, indeed, the situation is dire for many people.
I am thankful, that here in Birmingham, the floods have been minor and not in my area, although my roof sprang a leak, now fixed.
But I rang some people in Gloucester the other night, they have no water and with the views on the News of people going round bowser after bowser and finding them empty, must be awful.
I rang other people in Cheltenham, they had no water either .. I asked if they could escape up to my house and he said the roads were impassable.
Various groups are asking for support, including the Red Cross, so please do consider giving? And praying or crossing everything for those in great distress.
More heavy rain forecast for tonight.
And in case people don't know, it's because a Weather Front that would normally be passing somewhere around Iceland is passing further south right over parts of the UK. The reasons for this .. I have yet to hear.

That's a very difficult situation to be in, such large numbers of people being without clean water and all the attendant problems. Australia has long been struggling with drought, but perversely, some areas then had floods when the drought broke. Much sympathy to the UK.

Glad to hear you are OK, Mags.

Oh yes, NooNoo's last post, that I can find, was 23rd July, but her profile says 'Last Activity: July 27th, 2007' (so what did she do then, if she didn't post?).
Masses of rain fell on Friday 20th July, but it's also School Holidays.
Which area does she live in? Surely one of the other Mods must be in phone contact?

Yes I do recall Noo mentioning she was off for a bit of "alternative surfing"** with the kids or somesuch.
The area she lives in, whilst very wet as is much of England at the moment, was not flooded to any severe degree. Parts of our town were hit when the Great Ouse burst, but not to the extremes around Worcester / Gloucester.
** Cornwall, specifically the Newquay part, is celebrated for its beaches and waves and surfers come from all over the world so ride them!
Daresay she's found a steam-driven internet cafe or similar just to check in.
I trust she's had / having a well-earned & deserved break
