Windows XP Error Code 28

My computer was not functioning properly running really slow and constantly freezing.
So I tried re installing windows xp. I placed my old hard drive info in a back up file.
Everything seems to functioning alot better with the exception of the sound, I hear nothing from my speakers and am at a loss as to what to do.
