Most of the things you mentioned are just obvious to any Texan. I guess that's why nobody told you about them.
Of course Ft Worth is full of yuppies. Also, you were a little too far north for good tex mex food. As far as house plants, indoor plants are the ones that don't take heat very well. Oh, and public transportation? It doesn't exist west of the Mississippi until you get to CA. If you don't have a car you're stranded.

I had a good enough time. As I said very charming friendly people.
I would have had a better time on a Friday or a Saturday, though. The locals that I chatted with said the area was dead on weeknights. Nothing happening in any of the clubs. Nobody around. Streets empty.
It looked like almost all the bars had live bands on the weekends. The stage theaters were open on weekends. Etc. Etc.
I'd like to go back with a car some day.
