Nec Problem reading
I am using NEC Optiarc DVD RW AD-7173A and the label of the DVDs is taiyo yuden.I burned some dvds with it and whenever I try to read them the following message is displayed:windows cannot read from this disc. The disc might be corrupted,or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows
Although, when I read them with a samsung dvd rom everything goes alright.I have also done a firmware upgrade to my nec dvd rw

So what are you using to burn the dvds? Is the media + or - r? What is the model of the samsung? Have you tried a different make or type of dvd media?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

I burn the dvds with the nec and the dvds are -r.The Samsung's model is TS-H352A.
I haven't tried a different type but everyone says that this media is very good. Are you talking about compatibility?

I also tried Smartbuy label and the same thing happens..
Do you think I should keep trying different types such as Verbatim and TDK?

What speed is the media rated at?
Is this in a Dell computer or is it a retail version of the optiarc?
Where did you get the firmware? here?
