Webpage Update Notification
Webpage Update Notification
-- An advanced checker to notify changes occurred between visit
I would like to have a program which can keep track of different webpage. When the pages change, there is an alert/popup which will notify me. It is useful to track changes like new replies in particular boards, site news, version update news etc.
However the problem is a single unrelated change in a page would trigger the notification. For example, a random ad in the forum which will always trigger the alert. I wonder if the check can be more advanced. For example:
- alert only when the selected part of the webpage is updated
- decide the threshold on how many changes are needed to trigger the alert (helpful to prevent small unrelated changes from mis-triggering)
Do you have any program you can recommend?
I can pay for the program as long as it is powerful and suit my needs.

Welcome to Windrivers Wai_Wai
What you are asking for would mean that the program would have to know the difference between the content and the adverts... but this says it can do exactly what you want You just have to tell it which bits of the web page to ignore.
I have never used this software, so I can't vouch for it, it's just the first one I found that meets your requirements.

Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Thanks for your suggestion. I will check it out later.
It is not only adverts that needed to be ignored. For example, if you watch on a thread on the website, you want to focus on changes made on that thread only. All the rest should be ignored, including random ads, website statistics, read count etc.
The main content is what I'm interested, not the rest of the layout.
