My computer either crashes or freezes!!

Hi, I really need help with my computer, i upgraded less then half a year ago, with and intel core 2 duo, window xp operating sys.

There is serveral problems seems to be occuring lately and i can't figure out how to fix it.

    1) My computer is just left on for a little while, and when i come back, i can hear that the computer is still on, but there is no responds, the screen is blank, the only other way for me is to reboot it.

2)There are times the computer just reboots itself for no reason and have no error msg once it turned back on. And it will give this new msg saying found new hardware and it the vga controller, and the next time it reboots itself it can find that driver. Tried system restore and reinstalling the driver, but it still does it.

3)When watching videos, so far with just rmvb ext. it will freeze and there is no way to get out of it (tried getting the task mng and pressing several buttons) there is no response so i have to reboot it manually

4)I have this program my husband downloaded by accident and i can't get rid of it called "seekmo", would this program be affecting my comp?

5)My comp stills to be running the same speed before it was upgraded to the core 2 duo from pent 4.

    Welcome to Windrivers Mieanna

seekmo removal instructions You can use the manual removal instructions so that you don't need to download anything else

What antivirus do you have and what anti spyware software do you already have?

I have the free edition of avg and spybot, I just downloaded the ad-aware and scan the computer, i pretty sure it removed the seekmo, i also did a search to make sure and nothin of seekmo is found. Do you think that the reason for all the reboot and freezes, including the vga controller is caused by seekmo? Do you need a hijack log?

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help=)

HiJack log is always useful... I know you haven't had time to go through that document and check all the places seekmo might be hiding, so you should do that next.

Also, have you updated spybot to version 1.5? and get all the latest updates? You should also try running the free adaware and use an online scanner such as http://housecall.trendmicro.com

I have a question, by any chance could any these problem i listed in my first post be caused by hardware issues? Thanks=)

That is one of the longest HIjack logs I have ever seen... but all because of the logitech stuff. They seem to be repeating, like lots of installs. May be you should uninstall all the logitech stuff and fix those entries, then reinstall it and see how many entries you should really have.

go to www.hijackthis.de and either paste in the whole log or upload the report text file. You will see that seekmo seems to have died, but there are still hooks for it.

Why are you still running acrobat reader 5? We are up to version 8 now!

I notice you have adaware as well... good.

Lately I have been impressed with www.avast.com free antivirus - you might want to uninstall avg and try out avast. I have had better results with it.

    Hardware question:

Short answer - yes. More indepth answer would need you to turn off automatically restart on error and post the contents of the BSOD when it happens. Also examine the event viewer for applications (and check the others as well) and see if that has errors and warnings

I did the house call, and if found more seekmo, which i cleared. I haven't had time to check the registry for any more seekmo as weel. It is just that everytime i try to work on the computer it freezes and i can not do anything at all.

I also put the reboot mode off, but it hasn't been rebotting lately it been frezzing all the time. Do you know how to get out of the freezing or find out the problem of the freezing other then restarting the comp?(the keyboard and the mouse both don't work)

I uninstall the logitech, and will install it again, I upgraded the acrobat=)

When i went back into the hijack log, it a lot shorter now without the logitech, but i still see some programs that i had already uninstall..like empire poker and partypoker and it says missing files, should i fix them?

    here is the log again:

Yes fix any missing file entries.

Are you using the computer in safe mode? It shouldn't freeze in safe mode since most stuff causing a freeze doesn't load when in safe mode.

To get into safe mode either tap the f8 key a few times before windows splash screen comes up, or
    start, run, type in
    msconfig
click ok. On the boot tab, check the box for safe boot. Click ok. Reboot the computer and it will go into safe mode every time until you uncheck the safe boot box.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

I would remove all of the stuff to do with Party poker and all that
    Nothing but trouble there
Remove all of the Logitech and only use what logitech software you absolutely need. Most of it is useless garbage anyway
Remove all tool bars for the time being and all extras like msn plus
I would also install Spybot 1.5 update it and scan with it
