Net monitoring for kids

Hello,

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I built my little sister a computer for Christmas which is no big deal. Now normally I wouldn't think about this and I didn't so now I was asked by my parents. What is the best security suite for making sure she doesn't go to bad sites and as much as I feel it's too intrusive one that tracks what is done on the pc. In a nut shell I want to know 3 things. I need to know the best free, the best one that costs money, and what one everyone thinks would be best overall. By the way this software will be running on an Intel Celeron 1Ghz, with 512MB PC 133 RAM that has Win2k Pro service pack 4 on it.

Bleieve it or not, I have never set a proggie like that up. I have heard good things about Netnanny, and it did well in a comparison test here. By the way, hope you had a great Christmas, Niclo!

Hey man thanks for the review list. NetNanny does look pretty good but the CyberSitter might be the one I go for. It tracks AOL surfing and my family is a huge fan of that horrid blight of a program/isp. I'll have to dig up more info to make sure I'm leaning in the right direction on this. By the way Guts3d my Christmas was pretty sweet, I got a bunch of WWII memorabelia and a bunch of other things I was looking into buying on my own. Not to mention I got a great geek gift of 2GB of RAM W00T!

Net nanny has been a solid program for quite sometime.
Thankfully now we have Parental Controls in Vista which look to me like they really rock. I watched a demonstration by Microsoft at the Power Now Tour and it looks like it will eliminate the need for 3rd party software

yes in fact I did a second 18V portable driver/drill and extra batteries which now inc the flashlight i got for my birthday.

I used it on some of my clients computer, And it opens an IE windows for a site if it suspects of something is inapropriate and ask for a password.
It's really good and free, And in order to uninstall it you need a password and you get notified by mail.

I will look into all of these and try them out. I feel better now knowing what to look at rather than making an uninformed random choice.

I am amazed by my 11 years old kid.
He just called me from his room and said he's just installed the K9 protection software. I SWEAR that I NEVER told him about this software, The power of thought is AMAZING !!! He just read about it in "jersualem post" journal for kids few days ago !!!
Isn't that telepathic ?
