    Angry New install

It became time to reinstall windows as I was running out of space and my sound card wouldn't work and windows had some quirks I wanted to get rid of. I also added 2 new W/D HDD's in raid 0 and a new vid card for the aging agp bus. I now have a little over 1Tb of space. My new install went on the nvidia raid controller my old install was on the silicon image controller-- that partition I deleated but left the old Hdd's there. My problem is with installing the MB drivers. The cd that came with the MB will not give me the option of installing anything but the silicon image drivers. No chipset driver no ethernet controller drivers or anything but the silicon drivers. I've downloaded the drivers from gigabyte but the machine will not run them. It sees them as DOS files and when I double click on them a black Dos screen comes up momentarily then goes away and nothing happens. I've tried to go to device manager and reinstall them manually from the cd but although sometimes the cd spins up and the lite flashes there is no id of the Hardware and no installation of the drivers. I'm beginning to think that the MB chipset is slightly fried. Slightly as I could install windows and it posts. Am I forgetting something? Or is this a Hardware problem? I do have a rma'ed MB that I have not used since it came back from gigabyte. Do a search of christmas tree lights and you'll see the problem I had with that board. It's a lot of time and energy to put that in tho and I don't want to do it unless I really have a Hardware problem There's no guarantee in life is there? Thanks for any ideas or comments!

This is the page with the drivers. for the nvidia sata controller.

    http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Moth...ProductID=1839

And this is in fact the maker of the floppy disk that you press F6 for at the start of the windows setup
    http://asia.giga-byte.com/FileList/D...ootdisk_xp.exe
Download these and get a floppy disk and then run the file and it makes a disk
One thing to check is look at the structure of the floppy disk to make sure it didnt put the files in a folder. They are way easier to deal with in the root

I'm sorry Ferrit I guess I didn't make the above post very clear. I've got window MCE installed, but I cannot get the MB drivers installed after that. I got the f6 drivers to work well during instaqllation. But now the darn GB MB cd will not see the chipset right and I can't get the drivers to go in by hand.

Ferrit,No just from Gigabyte. However they are packaged similarly, so I don't see how that would make a difference. My machine would still see them as DOS files.

Well possibly not. It wouldn't be the first time a driver from a major manufacturer had a bad file on its servers. Certainly worth a try I would say

Well evidently all I had to do was install the video driver first. All the files now work and I was able to install all the mobo drivers. I had to go back to gigabyt to get the right marvell ethernet driver tho. the nforce drivers at nvidia tried to install extra things that I didn't have on my MB and cause The BSD. But everything is good now!
