Sata & Sata2
Hello everyone,
I`am thinking to buy a new hard drive (500 gb sata 2) but i think my motherboard it is not support the sata2 will the drive work as sata or it will never work ?
can i extend the sata port in my motherboard ? i just have 2

There should be a jumper on the drive to select Sata versus Sata 2 - check BEFORE you buy.
Add-on PCI card for additional Sata. Some support Raid, some don't. Again, check before buying.

Thank you CCT for helping me , but i think my motherboard is old (Intel D865PERL) and the reason for buying a drive with sata2 is for use it in new pc if i get one

I am not sure what that means. You asked a question about Sata 2 versus Sata and I answered. If your motherboard doesn't support Sata don't buy Sata. If your motherboard supports only Sata, you can buy Sata or Sata 2 as long as the Sata 2 can be jumpered or in some other manner will be backward compatible with Sata.
