    Unhappy Sound Problems

I recently formated my computer and installed windows xp but ever since I have had sound problems ever time i put an audio cd and they get listed in green soon afterwards they get listed in red with exclamation marks beside the tracks and a dialogue box appears saying " cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding"
I have tried installing and upgrading my sound drivers but to no avail.
I used belarac advisor to get my computer profile summary and it tol me that my BIOS is American Megatrends Inc. 62710 07/15/97
Please can anyone help me out to restore back the sound
Almost forgot in the device manager there is an exclamation mark on the multimedia audio controller.
You can email me any suggestions on [email protected]

Is your sound integrated on your motherboard? If so, do you know what make and model of board you have?
