Bummer...
I just found out today that my position on Base was cut, and people with 1 and 2 years will be kept simply because of the job title they hold. Ah, well, I guess this will give me a chance to use the next 6 months ( Unemployment insurance ) to find a better job. But I am sure that I won't ever find a better crew of people to work with.

Yikes! I hate job hunting! Since I'm self-employed, I can you can either say I never have to, or I do it daily! All a matter of perspective I guess. Still, I understand what it's like to break up a good team. It generally looks better on paper than it does in practice. Good Luck!

Man that sucks to hear. However I just got a message from the agency I was using to find tech jobs and I can see if there is anything they're offering me that you may be interested in.
One Script to rule them all.
One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
and clean up after itself.

I'm very sorry to hear that you position is being cut. Are you a soldier? Finding a job with great people to work with isn't easy. I've only been on WinDrivers since March but find it a great site. The people are terrific.
I hope you get the job that you deserve.

6 months off? Wow I could do with that
I am pretty sure knowing you guts, you will fall on your feet, even if you don't recognise which way is up for a while.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Good luck guts, there are a lot of options.
Last thing I remember, running for the door,
I had to find the passage back to the place
I was before.

A good man like you guts will be hard pressed to manage even a small part of that time off before your working again, I should imagine.
Good Luck

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I am not a soldier, I just fix broken stuff on Base. I got a call this morning from my old boss asking me to come back, they got a 3 month extension on the contract. Decisions, decisions... But I have an interview today with another company that looks promising. Plus, there is another job on Base that has similar pay and duties with yet another company, so I have that in the mix as well. I was kind of looking forward to having a week or two off...

The guys at work E-mailed me... the tradition is the "New Guy" buys doughnuts for everyone, and since I am coming back (after 2 days off, the worlds shortest termination I am sure), they feel that the rule applies to me. Drat!

Sounds great about your job back, Hopefully it is not a Battalion. or
Division. that you have to fork over the dough for Doughnuts.

Guts...
That wasn't a lay-off.
It was an extended lunch break!
Well done though. I particularly like donuts half-dipped in chocolate. And regular coffee. But I'd rather have tea. Ferrit's brewing up I think...

Well, I am back for 30 to 90 days, it seemed easier to bear when it was happening the first time.
